Soap and water is the go-to for cleaning. Being outdoors, glass deck railings tend to accumulate dirt and debris blown by the wind. They may have dead leaves stuck to them, or bird droppings from our fine, feathered friends. If the glass isn’t too bad, you can use a spray bottle filled with water and a drop or two of dish soap to saturate the area and wipe with a non-abrasive cloth. If leaves or droppings are extensive or have dried on and stuck, spray and leave it to soak for a few minutes before wiping. Rinse away suds with plain water.
Vinegar and water in a 50/50 solution is a tried-and-true method for achieving a streak-free shine. It works in the same way as soap and water–spray and soak if necessary, then wipe with a non-abrasive cloth. There may be a smell from the vinegar at first, but don’t worry, it fades pretty quickly.
Drying outdoor glass railing is as easy as letting it dry on its own, or, you can use a squeegee to ensure there’s no streaking or spotting. Chamois or microfibre cloths are also great choices because they are lint-free–avoid paper towels for this reason.
