types of glass shower doorsAdding a little chic into your life is as easy as choosing a beautiful custom glass shower enclosure for your bathroom. In fact, there has never been a better time with so many contemporary designs to choose from. With this much versatility there will be a design that is perfect for you and your budget. Let’s go over the options.

Whether you’re adding a new room or updating an existing room, a custom glass bathroom is within your reach. The first thing you’ll want to consider is space. Working within a large room, or a small room, or having obstacles to work around will help guide your decisions regarding the type of door. Your preferences for cleaning and desire for privacy will guide your decisions on the type of glass.

Types of doors

  • Hinged or pivot doors. These are like the regular doors you’re used to and work really well in large bathrooms with lots of space.
  • Sliding or bypass doors. These are like sliding patio doors and are perfect for smaller spaces. They are very functional, can be used for stand-alone showers, and can be installed on bathtubs
  • Folding doors. These operate like folding closet doors and come in two-fold or three-fold options. They are an elegant option for smaller rooms.

Types of glass

All glass shower doors and made of tempered glass, which is not only beautiful  but incredibly durable and safe. It is made to fit any shape or dimension so no area is ruled out for a custom glass enclosure.

  • Clear. Offers an unobstructed line-of-sight, making a bathroom appear larger, more open and inviting. They are great for showing off gorgeous tiling or specialty fixtures. These need to be cleaned more often to keep them streak and spot free.
  • Frosted. Different degrees of privacy are available depending on the level of frosting.
  • Patterned or textured. There are so many options here with hammered and ‘rain’ being two of the more popular. These also offer some degrees of privacy. This type of glass more easily hides water streaks so they don’t need to be cleaned as often to look their best.
  • Coloured. This option can really tie a room together, but may have a limited lifetime depending on how often you like to refresh a colour scheme.
