How to Care For and Clean Your Stainless Steel Railing
Widely used in handrails and balconies due to its durability and resistance to corrosion and rust, stainless steel railing will give your deck long lasting beauty with these simple care and cleaning tips.
You want to avoid an accumulation of dirt, dust and grim on your stainless steel railings. It responds well to cleaning, and won’t wear out from “excessive cleaning” with just a few considerations.
The least aggressive method to start with is water and a cloth. You can routinely clean your stainless steel with warm water and a cloth. Always wipe in the direction of the polish lines and dry with a soft towel to prevent water spots.
If it has been a long time since the last cleaning or you are starting to see corrosion marks, you can use a mild detergent and warm water to clean. Just be sure to completely rinse the soap to prevent spotting and staining. And drying with a towel will prevent water spots, which can be caused by minerals and “hard water”.
While some newer stainless steel finishes resist fingerprints, this common complaint can be taken care of with glass cleaner. Be sure to rinse and towel dry thoroughly.
Finally, if you are seeing staining or scratching on your stainless steel railing, you will want to try a stainless steel cleaner which can help minimize scratching and remove stains. Be sure to read the directions and use according to manufacturers specs, testing it first on an inconspicuous part of the railing. As with all cleaning, be sure to rinse and towel dry.
But the real beauty of Stainless Steel Railings is that with minimal care, they are a long lasting addition to any Vancouver home or business.
